Message from the Co-ordinator
Over the years, many students leave Ghana School of Law without any experience in volunteering. Meanwhile, Ghana School of Law has students of diverse backgrounds with rich experience and expertise in their fields. These students can affect their communities positively by involving themselves in volunteering. By undertaking these volunteering projects, they are able to give back to society and also inculcate in themselves the pro bono spirit.
Legal practitioners as part of their practice are obliged to undertake pro bono cases as a way of giving back to society. Through this act of kindness, many people are able to seek Justice at little to no cost to them. This initiative will therefore create the enabling environment for students to prepare themselves for pro bono services when they get called to the bar. Students through this initiative will volunteer their time, expertise and knowledge to support worthy causes. Legal clinics and public interest cases that GSLV will take up, will bring tremendous benefit to underserved communities. Impacting humanity in a selfless manner is a noble cause that GSL students must endeavor to undertake.
It was therefore necessary for the Odupong Agyapong Atta-Agyapong’s Administration to establish Ghana School of Law Volunteers to be a platform through which students can volunteer to bring positive change to their communities. Diplomatic and Foreign Affairs Committee under the leadership of Sarita Okyere was tasked to bring this initiative to fruition, of which I together with my colleagues on the committee worked tirelessly to make this dream a reality.
I will therefore entreat all students of Ghana School of Law to get involved as we impact humanity in the most noble and dignified way.
